Speech and Language Therapist

Master of Speech Pathology, Curtin University, Perth

Bachelor of Science (BSc.) (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences, National University of Singapore (NUS)

Yu Jing is a Speech Therapist fully registered with the AHPC. She previously worked in a social service organisation, collaborating closely with other therapists, teachers and families in both the special education and early intervention settings. She also has experience working with individuals aged 0-18 years, with conditions of varying complexities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay, West Syndrome, Angelmann Syndrome etc.

Yu Jing strongly advocates for communication being a basic human right and that everyone has something to say. In her commitment to find creative ways to give every child a voice, she has spearheaded programmes to facilitate effective use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in schools as well as an EyeGaze Clinic to help improve communication and learning in students with complex needs. She was also a founding member in the local chapter of the International Society of AAC (ISAAC - Singapore).

Besides communication, Yu Jing also has a strong interest in supporting children and their families in the areas of picky eating and oral motor development.

Yu Jing believes that having fun is every child’s primary occupation, and always strives for her clients to enjoy themselves in the midst of learning. She also takes the family-centred approach and greatly values close collaboration with parents and caregivers in order to maximise positive therapy outcomes.

Outside of work, Yu Jing enjoys aerial yoga and rock climbing. She is also an avid animal lover. Go to her for a random animal fun fact, she will be more than happy to share!
