About

Alexis is a dedicated speech therapist who is passionate about working with children and their families. She believes that children learn best in a fun environment and seeks to make meaningful connections with them. She also values the key role that caregivers play in helping their children reach their fullest potential. As a mother of two young children, Alexis empathises when parents are worried about their child's milestones and development. She intentionally works closely with caregivers to understand their concerns and help them feel more empowered to support their children in their development and growth.

Alexis was awarded the Ministry of Health Holdings (MOHH) Mid-term Scholarship and graduated from The University of Queensland in 2014. She began her journey as a speech therapist at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH), where she had the opportunity to work extensively with the paediatric population. She has a wide range of experience in seeing children with speech, language, voice, fluency, as well as feeding/ swallowing difficulties from various backgrounds such as prematurity, Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Her areas of specialty are in early and school-age language, speech, voice and picky eating. Alexis is also a certified clinical supervisor with the Allied Health Professions Council. She enjoys guiding and nurturing junior speech therapists and speech therapy students.

Alexis joined the social service sector in 2019 to expand her experience beyond the clinical setting. She had the opportunity to work in schools with preschoolers who had difficulties with speech, language and/or social communication. Being in the school environment allowed Alexis to collaborate closely with teachers to set functional goals that were meaningful to the child’s participation in the classroom. Other than the mainstream preschool setting, Alexis also has experience working with children in a private special education school.

It has been very rewarding for Alexis to journey with so many families and witness growth in their children’s development. She endeavours to continue journeying with more families, to help their little ones achieve their goals and discover their utmost potential.
