Joey Hwang

Joey believes that every child communicates differently, and that therapy should help children feel understood, heard, and more confident when connecting with the people around them. She values working closely with families and helping communication skills carry over beyond therapy sessions into everyday routines and interactions at home. 

Getting to know what a child is like outside the therapy room is also important to her, as it helps her understand the child more fully and support them in a way that feels relevant and meaningful.

Joey holds a Master’s degree in Speech Pathology from La Trobe University. Before moving into allied health, she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education at Monash University and worked with young children across a range of preschools and early learning centres in both Australia and Singapore.

She has experience supporting mainly preschool-aged children across private clinics and early intervention settings, as well as some primary school-aged children. Joey’s approach is flexible, child-led and play-based where appropriate. She adapts sessions according to each child’s communication level, strengths, interests and play skills, while placing strong emphasis on building rapport and creating an environment where communication feels motivating and achievable.
